I Can Make That

Posted on

I have this problem. I don’t know the clinical name for it, but here’s what it looks like. I’m at the store, or maybe a gallery or…you know…anywhere and I see something I like. I look it over and I think, I can make that.

And then I figure out a way.

Once, I welded a bed. I’ll post about that another day.

A couple of years ago I saw some silver jewelry and decided I Can Make That. I used PMC. It can be fussy and results can be unpredictable, but wow, do I love the stuff. I just wish the market price of silver would go down so I could afford to buy more clay.

Here’s a pic of some earrings I made for a friend using PMC.

Do you suffer from I Can Make That? What have you taught yourself to make?

I totally suffer from that. And I can’t just throw something out, I have to use it all up, find a home for it, or recycle it.

Fortunately, I’ve learned that my time is worth money and that sometimes it’s cheaper to buy something than to make it.
