I turned my treadmill into a desk!

Posted on

Hi there. I’ve been quiet around here lately, and for good reason. I’ve been working like made on copyedits for my book Now That You’re Here. But — hooray! — now they’re done and I have a small respite before the crunch of book two’s deadline hits.

I love being an author. I love creating stories and revising stories and working with my editor to make them sparkle.

But there’s a downside to being an author.

The sitting!

Holy guacamole, I’ve been sitting a lot. Like, waaaaaay too much. So today, I came up with a solution.

I turned my treadmill into a desk! I bought a pre-fab shelf, some industrial-strength velcro and some grippy material. (These are all technical terms, you know.)

Here are some pics:

The handles on my treadmill slope down a little, so the angle is a little funky. But that’s okay. It’ll do for the time being.

Tomorrow I delve back into book two. And this time, it won’t only be my fingers moving.

    That’s awesome, Amy!

I’m currently working with my dad (he’s the one with the tools and know-how) to make a standing desk. One that’s custom built for my height. A good working environment should also be a healthy one.

I hope it works out for you. (Pun intended)

Great idea! And I like the idea of a standing desk from S.C. Green. Which reminds me…I should get up and move!

Congrats on finishing your editing and good luck on your next project. 🙂
