WHILE YOU WERE GONE – Advanced copies!

Hey everyone! Exciting news. Yesterday a box arrived from my editor.

What’s this?

I opened it and found…

Advanced copies of While You Were Gone!

Advanced copies!

With Now That You’re Here being out for only a little over a month, I haven’t done a lot of talking about the second installment. In fact, I haven’t even shown you the cover yet. *gasp* A few of you have seen it on Goodreads and Amazon, as well as on The Hiding Spot, who included it in a recent cover shout-out about books they’re excited to read. (Thank you, Hiding Spot! ❤ ) But I haven’t posted it here yet. So, without further ado, here is the cover of my second novel, While You Were Gone.

OK, maybe I’m biased, but I think it’s gorgeous. And I love how it contrasts the cover of Now That You’re Here, because that’s what the story does. Want to read the jacket copy? Here you go.

While You Were Gone

An artist without a cause meets a rebel without a clue.

Eevee is a promising young artist and the governor’s daughter in a city where censorship is everywhere and security is everything. When a fire devastates her exhibition—years in the making—her dreams of attending an elite art institute are dashed. She’s struggling to find inspiration when she meets Danny, a boy from a different world. Literally.

Raised in a foster home, Danny has led a life full of hurt and hardship until a glitch in the universe changes everything. Suddenly Danny is living in a home he’s never seen, with parents who miraculously survived the car crash that should have killed them. It’s like he’s a new Danny. But this alternate self has secrets—ties to an underground anarchist group that have already landed him in hot water. When he starts to develop feelings for Eevee, he’s even more disturbed to learn that he might have started the fire that ruined her work.

As Danny sifts through clues from his past and Eevee attempts to piece together her future, they uncover a secret that’s bigger than both of them. . . . And together, they must correct the breach between the worlds before it’s too late.

Those of you who read Now That You’re Here know about those crossover scenes between the two worlds. Well, in While You Were Gone, you get to see what was really happening in the parallel universe. What I love most about the second book is that it changes your understanding of the first book. Pretty mind-bendy, eh?

While You Were Gone hits shelves August 4!

Hi, Amy! I was at the Rock The Drop program a week ago, and received one of your advanced copies of While You Were Gone. I just wanted to say that I loved it! I ordered the first one from the library and couldn’t put either book down. The stories fit together perfectly, and they kept me in suspense until the end. And also, thanks for not letting the romance go farther than kissing. 😛 That may sound silly, but YA novels these days can get pretty disgusting, and it’s nice to actually find a good story that has some meaning to it! Thank you for writing these books, and I can’t wait to read more of your writing!

Hi Gabriela. I’m so glad you enjoyed the books! That makes so happy. It’s so cool that you were at the Rock the Drop event! That was a blast. Thanks for what you said about the content of the books. I left the second one a little more open to interpretation, but I didn’t want to push the characters too much, especially in the first book because it just didn’t seem in their character — at least Eevee’s. My goal is to always stay true to the characters. Anyway, thank you, again, for reading them. If you feel so led, please leave a review online at Goodreads or Amazon. Thank you! And I hope to have more books out soon!
